This project is about synthesizing ideas from different objects. To accomplish that, we needed to analyze different properties that different objects suggested, such as form, space, matter, etc. Starting off with a hand grenade, we looked at how it behaved spatially as an object - A large dome over a tower meeting at the bottom, with shrapnel distributed at the edge of the dome. Following, we inspected the idea of balloons inside a larger balloon, to do so the project extracts sections of buildings from the surrounding plaza which are then distributed in the balloon. The dome then becomes a form of pneumatic architecture. The hierarchy and arrangement of the spaces inside the balloon were then inspired by the form of a tree. The new volume creates an endless space that flows in its own atmosphere creating a world of its own, arduously suspended over Barcelona. Highlighted by the low skyline of the city, the project towers above giving it otherworldly attributes. This project was posted by multiple architecture blogs online.
